A multi-faceted showcase
Farringdon based service design practice Friday was looking for an online presence that could truly represent their intelligent, unique and digitally mature company.
The new site needed to accurately reflect ways of working and offbeat company character, whilst lifting some text-heavy data content with engaging visual design.
SO WHO ARE FRIDAY?
To accurately portray the company structure and culture, I started with a full on- and offline brand audit.
Amongst the anticipated Post-it deluge, I found solid company foundations based on years of trusted client partnerships, and steady open dialogue between close-knit teams collaborating in autonomous environments.
AND THEN IT GOT... WEIRD
Dotted around the place I discovered improvised doodles, custom memes, and perfectly ... tasteful office artifacts, each with an authentic story of origin.
VALUES AND DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Audit results and visual research blended with solid company values, and ultimately helped to produce strong design principles:
Expert, ambitious and original… with a dash of unexpected quirk.
Visually, this translated to:
• supersized 'clashing' typography styles
• dynamic angles in image crops
• high-contrast colour blends
PORTRAYING A COMPANY
One main requirement was to make visible the Friday work environment, for potential clients and new hires alike.
I art directed several photo + video shoots to capture authentic team profiles and create a suite of ambient video backdrops to introduce people and office spaces.
AN EAGLE, A RABBIT AND A FLAMINGO WALK INTO A BAR...
To surface some of the unconventional company character, I blended some custom footer artwork, finding perfect ingredients in the eccentric office decorations, and placing them in colourful 3D rendered fantasy landscapes.
RELATED CONTENT
To homogenise look and feel of the new site with the company social accounts I visually refreshed headers + profiles throughout.
The tease + release campaign posts that preceded launch received high visitor engagement on Instagram, with Twitter and LinkedIn not far behind.
